Three discoveries – unsung masterpieces

This absolutely ravishing program is for the musical adventurers because at first glance it might look a little outside the comfort zone. But fear not, Viennese Anton Webern, American Amy Beach and Russian Nikolai Medtner have produced stunningly beautiful Romantic works which are among the many wonderful discoveries in this season. If you thought you knew Webern by his modernist 2nd Viennese School output, this little gem of a string quartet will surprise and delight. Beach and Medtner's piano quintets are absolute winners, almost too much luxuriousness for one program but let's go for it!
